*Chinese herbal medicine is an ancient art of combining medicinal herbs into a custom prescription for each patient. The combinations strengthen the desired effects of the herbs, while minimizing side effects. We typically use between 8 and 18 herbs in each formula. Herbs come in their dried form for boiling at home, or in granules, tablets, capsules, tinctures, washes, soaks and more for easy consumption. We always take into account what other herbs, supplements and medications you are on for safety reasons.

Ke Li graduated from the Medical College, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Department of Xiamen University (Fujian, China) in 2007. In Xiamen, she studied under and was mentored by Professor Wang Yanhui, a famous TCM professor and cancer expert. She also obtained a college diploma in Biomedical Engineering in 2014.

Ke Li is passionate about Chinese medicine cancer support because, having experienced the death of a loved one to cancer when she was young, she decided to help others facing this difficult diagnosis. In the hospital in China, she saw many cancer patients experience challenges during surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. With the help of TCM, she witnessed many relieve their pain, prolong their life and even fully recover.

“I wish all patients knew that cancer is not the last stop, but a new beginning that allows you to cherish life and the things around you,” she says, “and has more opportunities to learn about your true self while fighting the disease.”

Ke Li helps patients overcome unhealthy habits from their past and establish a good and healthy mentality to face their new life journey. It will be her honour to use what she has learned to help you to improve your quality of life.

Having worked as a TCM practitioner for many years, Ke Li has developed a deep understanding of TCM theory and practices. Proficiency in diagnosing conditions based on Chinese medicine theory enables her to interpret patients’ symptoms accurately. With her strong background in TCM, clinical proficiency, and dedication to providing excellent patient care, Ke Li has developed exceptional patient rapport skills, allowing her to establish trust and create a comfortable environment for diverse patients. This enables her to provide personalized treatment plans that are tailored to their specific needs, incorporating acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, tuina, and bloodletting and herbal medicine prescription. She is committed to continuously expanding her knowledge and skills in TCM, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.

Some examples of the conditions her patients face include: • Cancer: various types and stages • Respiratory conditions: rhinitis, cough, and common cold • Skin issues: allergies, acne and eczema, etc • Pain management: arthritis, cervical spondylosis, and lumbago • Stress-related mental illness: depression, anxiety, and insomnia • Reproductive health issues: dysmenorrhea, menopausal symptoms, fertility, urological issues • Various other diseases: hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, digestive disorders, and so on.

Chloe Liu (she/her) is a dedicated Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist with rich experience in integrative cancer care. She has been working with patients and their families for many years, recognizing the profound impact cancer has on individuals.

Her Traditional Chinese Medicine practice is centered on managing symptoms related to cancer and its treatments. This includes common issues like nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, low blood count, low immunity, fatigue, lack of appetite, and general cancer pain, as well as more specific concerns such as dry mouth, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), aromatase inhibitor-induced joint and muscle pain and stiffness, etc. Chloe also addresses the mental and emotional toll of the disease, treating cancer-induced anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

With Statistics Canada indicating that two in five Canadians will likely face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, Chloe believes this area of care is more common and crucial than generally perceived. She emphasizes that anxiety and fear not only negatively impact mood but can also compromise the body’s natural defense and repair mechanisms. She is passionate about the valuable yet often undervalued role of Traditional Chinese Medicine as an integrative approach in cancer care.

Driven by an exploratory and curious mind, Chloe continually expands her knowledge and refines her therapeutic techniques through ongoing professional development, including reading, courses, seminars, and conferences. Reflecting her commitment to this specialty, she has made Oncology her career focus, completing an internship at the JJTCM Cancer Centre and undergoing specialized Oncology Acupuncture training online offered by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Beyond her oncology specialization, Chloe is proficient in treating a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, as well as various mental and physical disorders.

Her treatment approach incorporates several modalities, including acupuncture, moxibustion, blood-letting, cupping (Ba Guan), scraping (Gua Sha), oral and topical herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and lifestyle modifications.

Chloe holds a Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma from JJTCM College and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree from the University of Toronto. She is an advocate for the discipline, stating, “Traditional Chinese Medicine is ancient yet advanced, simple yet effective,” and she strives to promote greater acceptance and appreciation for Traditional Chinese Medicine as a vital, integrative component of modern health management.
